Dropping Elder Jenkins Off at the MTC

The day has finally arrived to take Gilmore to the MTC in Provo, UT.

We stayed in Clarkston, UT last night so we could visit with Will's sister Beverly and his mother who lives with her there. It also meant we were three hours closer and could make the final leg to Provo without too much stress.

When we arrived to the MTC there was a line up of cars at the gate. We followed them in and went where we were directed.

We were in and out of the MTC within 20 minutes.

Gilmore, Will and I got out of the suburban to begin unloading his suit cases. The rest of the kids stayed inside and took some photos for me.

Here is the Elder that came to escort Gilmore into the MTC.

Getting the final suitcase.

You can't leave without one more hug!

And there he goes.
Goodbye, Gilmore!
God Bless You,
Until We Meet Again!

Set Apart as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Elder Gilmore Jenkins was set apart as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today by President Randal Sutton of the Rexburg South Stake. What a precious experience for all of us.

Gilmore Received His Mission Call

We knew it was coming. The large white envelope from Salt Lake City addressed to Elder Gilmore Lee Jenkins. But we had no idea what day it was going to arrive.

The heads up had come from Bishop Kevin Barnes on Tuesday that Gilmore would be receiving his call this week. It was about 1:00 in the afternoon when I heard the Mail Lady driving up the road. I headed out to the mail box to see what she had for us today. She smiled as she handed me the stack of mail and said, "Sending a missionary out aren't ya? I've been delivery a lot of these lately."

Hurry Gilmore! Open it! Open it!
Hardly able to contain my excitement I headed back up the driveway to the house. Half way there Gilmore called from work. "Has the mail come yet?" he asked. "Yep! You had better hurry home after work because your call has arrived!" I was so excited.

Finally everybody got home and Gilmore's girlfriend, Carly, arrived. So it was time. Enjoy the photos and the video of that evening when he found out that he would be going to the Oklahoma Oklahoma City Mission. We all laughed at the fact that he would be reporting to the Missionary Training Center the day before his 20th birthday on February 20, 2013.
